OK! Another weekend is approaching and there is too much as usual to do. I have included a lot more out of the area events due to our upcoming move, so that just means more for us, so yeah!

FRIDAY

Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art

Family programming throughout the evening includes yoga for kids, arts and crafts, performances, concerts, readings, film screenings, and tours. Kids are invited to wear pajamas and bring pillows for bedtime stories with museum mascot Arturo, while parents can enjoy complimentary gourmet coffee.

Crow Collection After Dark: Madame Butterfly

Families are invited to celebrate Dallas Opera's upcoming production of Puccini's Madame Butterfly with activities such as butterfly origami, face painting, performances, and more.Visit the website for a complete schedule of events.

SATURDAY


Family Concert: The American Spirit in Music

Visitors can enjoy a free concert featuring Vignettes: Covered Wagon Woman, a recent commission for mezzo-soprano, piano, violin, and cello from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The text is based on the diary of Margaret Frink, who traveled from Indiana to California by covered wagon in 1850. Located in the museum's Horchow Auditorium.

Live Green Expo

The green-living expo offers information on education, energy, food and agriculture, green building and remodeling, lifestyle and recreation, transportation, and yard and garden. Activities also include an eco-fashion show, children's activities, entertainment, and do-it-yourself demos.

Dallas Kids Read

The family literature and reading festival features celebrity book readings, storytelling, puppet shows, arts and crafts, musical entertainment, face painting, and more.

Night Hike at the Heard

Visitors can take a guided hike along the trails after dark in search of owls and other critters. Hikes last at least an hour. Advance registration required by phone or email.

Fancy Nancy Poetry Storytime

Borders stores throughout the Metroplex host a storytime inspired by Jane O'Connor's new book, Fancy Nancy Poet Extraordinaire, complete with games, crafts, poetry-writing, and more. Check with your local store to confirm participation.

Family Festival: Spring into Asian Art

Hands-on activities and film programs, along with storytelling and other performances, provide lively entertainment and rich learning experiences for visitors of all ages! No reservations required. Admission is free. Children's films generously provided by the Lone Star Film Society and KIDSFIRST.

Time: 1pm-4pm

Dallas Roars!

Activities during the fifth annual Dallas Roars! celebration include bounce houses, carnival games and activities, costumed characters, radio station appearances, arts and crafts, and more. Each day features a different theme, including a Party for the Planet on Apr 24 in honor of Earth Day, complete with an ecology-themed magic show.

Build and Grow Clinic: See It Grow Planter

Kids can learn how to use tools and make their own wooden planters to take home. All supplies and safety gear are provided. The event takes place at Lowe's locations throughout the area. And there is usally goodies and free hot dogs offered. Check with local store to be sure.

SUNDAY



Canoe Fest
Families can enjoy canoeing on the waters around Greer Island. Canoes, paddles, and life jackets provided. Children must be at least five years old and accompanied by an adult. No pre-registration needed.
